Create in Me a Clean Heart

Sermon Outline/Slides: Create in Me a Clean Heart

Psalm 24:3-5 (NKJV) “Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive blessing from the LORD, And righteousness from the God of his salvation.”

Matthew 5:8 (NKJV) “Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.”

A clean heart is a forgiven heart.

Psalm 51:2 (NKJV) “Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin.”

James 2:8-10 (NKJV) “If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you do well; but if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors. For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.”

Luke 18:10-12 (NKJV) “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men–extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. ‘I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’”

Romans 6:12 (NKJV) “Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.”

I Peter 1:22,23 (NKJV) “Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,”

A clean heart is fixed on truth.

Psalm 51:6 (NKJV) “Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.”

Psalm 119:11 (NKJV) “Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You!”

Psalm 119:97 (NKJV) “Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day.”

John 8:44 (NKJV) “”You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.”

Philippians 4:8 (NKJV) “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy–meditate on these things.”

A clean heart is free from unnecessary guilt.

Psalm 51:7 (NKJV) “Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.”

Isaiah 1:18 (NKJV) “”Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the LORD, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.”

Hebrews 8:12 (NKJV) “For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”

Psalm 103:12 (NKJV) “As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.”

A clean heart is steadfast.

Psalm 51:10 (NKJV) “Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.”

Colossians 1:22,23 (NKJV) “in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight– if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.”

Psalm 57:7 (NKJV) “My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and give praise.”

Hebrews 3:12-14 (NKJV) “Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end,”

A clean heart rejoices in salvation.

Psalm 51:12 (NKJV) “Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.”

I Peter 1:8,9 (NKJV) “whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith–the salvation of your souls.”

I John 5:13 (NKJV) “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.”
