Some Facts about the Truth

Sermon Outline/Slides: Some Facts about the Truth

Popularity doesn’t determine it

I Kings 22:2-8 (NKJV) “Then it came to pass, in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went down to visit the king of Israel. And the king of Israel said to his servants, “Do you know that Ramoth in Gilead is ours, but we hesitate to take it out of the hand of the king of Syria?” So he said to Jehoshaphat, “Will you go with me to fight at Ramoth Gilead?” Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses.” Also Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “Please inquire for the word of the LORD today.” Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said to them, “Shall I go against Ramoth Gilead to fight, or shall I refrain?” So they said, “Go up, for the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king.” And Jehoshaphat said, “Is there not still a prophet of the LORD here, that we may inquire of Him?” So the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is still one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may inquire of the LORD; but I hate him, because he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.” And Jehoshaphat said, “Let not the king say such things!””

II Timothy 4:2-4 (NKJV) “Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.”

Your feelings about it don’t change it

Proverbs 28:26 (NKJV) “He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, But whoever walks wisely will be delivered.”

Proverbs 3:5,6 (NKJV) “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”

It doesn’t matter who believes it

John 7:40-48 (NKJV) “Therefore many from the crowd, when they heard this saying, said, “Truly this is the Prophet.” Others said, “This is the Christ.” But some said, “Will the Christ come out of Galilee? “Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the seed of David and from the town of Bethlehem, where David was?” So there was a division among the people because of Him. Now some of them wanted to take Him, but no one laid hands on Him. Then the officers came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, “Why have you not brought Him?” The officers answered, “No man ever spoke like this Man!” Then the Pharisees answered them, “Are you also deceived? “Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed in Him?”

You believing it doesn’t change it

Acts 17:30 (NKJV) “”Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,”

There is only one

John 14:6 (NKJV) “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

Proverbs 23:23 (NKJV) “Buy the truth, and do not sell it, Also wisdom and instruction and understanding.”

I Timothy 3:15 (NKJV) “but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.”

God is the source

John 14:6 (NKJV) “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

Deuteronomy 32:4 (NKJV) “He is the Rock, His work is perfect; For all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He.”

Proverbs 16:25 (NKJV) “There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.”

It does not change

Malachi 3:6 (NKJV) “For I am the LORD, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.”

Hebrews 13:8 (NKJV) “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”

John 17:17 (NKJV) “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.”

Matthew 24:35 (NKJV) “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.”

It can be known

John 8:32 (NKJV) “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

John 7:16,17 (NKJV) “Jesus answered them and said, “My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me. “If anyone wants to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority.”

You will be judged by it

John 12:48 (NKJV) “He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him–the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.”

Revelation 20:11-15 (NKJV) “Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.”
